Dr. Daniel Miller received his doctorate from the University of Kentucky Medical School in 1985. He completed a residency in General Surgery in 1991 from Georgetown University and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the Mayo Clinic in 1994. From 1994 through 1997, he was co-directed of the lung transplant program and chief of general thoracic surgery at University of Louisville Hospitals in Kentucky. He then returned to the Mayo Clinic as faculty surgeon for five years, where he focused on improving the surgical thoracic oncology program and was involved with the Mayo Clinic CT lung cancer screening study. After arriving at Emory in 2002, he helped to initiate the first multidisplinary clinic for thoracic oncology patients and performed the first VATS lobectomy in Georgia. He is currently the Kamal A. Mansour Professor of Surgery in the Emory University School of Medicine and Chief of General Thoracic Surgery for Emory University Healthcare.
