Dr. Robin Goland is the founding co-director of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, combining premier family-centered patient care and education with world-class diabetes research programs. Under her co-leadership, the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center has been named one of three "Diabetes Centers of Excellence" in New York State. The Berrie Center is a leader in the recruitment and retention of minority research subjects.
Dr. Goland has been on the faculty of the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons since 1987 and is on the Boards of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the New York Stem Cell Research Foundation. She is the author of more than 40 scientific papers and is the health columnist for People Magazine's "Your Diet" magazine. A major focus of Dr. Goland's work is on translational research and clinical trials in adult and pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, obesity and impaired glucose tolerance.
