Program Overview
OCD is one of the most common and debilitating psychiatric disorders affecting more than two million American adults, yet it remains under-diagnosed and under-treated. Discovery Health CME has assembled a panel of experts to help bridge the gap between medical knowledge of OCD and its actual diagnosis and treatment, with emphasis on SSRI therapy.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Review the epidemiology of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
- Describe the socio-economic consequences of and disability associated with OCD.
- Accurately diagnose OCD, as it compares to other psychiatric disorders.
- Discuss the pathophysiology of OCD and the role of serotonin.
- Discuss the treatment options for OCD, with a particular focus on selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
