Insulin Initiation: Targeting Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes has become an epidemic in the United States. Despite effective medications and clinical guidelines, glycemic control continues to be inadequate. For many patients, the early initiation of insulin may help them achieve their glycemic targets. Despite current recommendations advocating insulin therapy in type 2 diabetes, there are both patient and physician barriers to instituting an insulin regimen.

Discovery Health has assembled a panel of experts to review the recent scientific evidence relating to the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes, the benefits of early insulin therapy, and the current recommendations for insulin initiation in type 2 diabetes.
