Steven V. Edelman, M.D., is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of California (UC), San Diego School of Medicine in San Diego. He is Director of the Diabetes Care Clinic at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in San Diego. He is board certified in internal medicine with subspecialty certification in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism.

Dr Edelman is Founder and Executive Director of Taking Control of Your Diabetes, a series of educational and motivational conferences and health fairs for people living with diabetes. He is an active member of The Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the American Physicians Fellowship. He has written 4 books and more than 150 publications including articles and abstracts that have been published in such journals as American Journal of Physiology, Diabetes, and Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr Edelman is a reviewer for several professional journals including Annals of Internal Medicine, Diabetes Monitor, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Dr Edelman's honors include the Distinguished Alumnus Award from UC Davis School of Medicine and the Whittier Institutes Persistence Award for Public Service. In addition, he is a 4-time recipient of the Chief Resident's Teacher of the Year Award from UC, San Diego.
