Dr. Saller received his Bachelor of Science from Penn State University in 1978, following which he attended Jefferson Medical College, graduating with an M.D. in 1982. He received his Residency Training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, finishing in 1986. He then took Fellowships in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and in Genetics at The University of Maryland, finishing in 1989. While at The University of Maryland, Dr. Saller began work on a Master of Science Degree in Human Genetics, graduating in 1991. From 1989 thru 1992, Dr. Saller was on the faculty at Women & Infants' Hospital and Brown University. From 1992 through 2001, he was on the faculty at The University of Rochester and from 2001 through 2003, he was on the faculty at West Virginia University. He is currently Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics at The University of Virginia. He is also currently Medical Director of both Labor and delivery and the Prenatal Diagnosis and Treatment Center at the University of Virginia.
