Know your height and weight? Then you can easily find your Body Mass Index (BMI), a useful way to estimate your body fat. For adults, a BMI from 18.5 to under 25 is considered healthy, while excess weight can raise your risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and other serious health problems.
BMI is not a foolproof measurement. Though muscle tissue weighs more than fat tissue, BMI calculation doesn't recognize the difference between muscle and fat - an aggravating footnote for people who spend a lot of time at the gym.
