Program Overview
Metastatic breast cancer is breast cancer that has spread beyond the breast into places such as the bones, lungs, liver, or brain. Although metastatic breast cancer is not curable, there are many effective treatments, including a number of recent treatment advances, which are enabling women with metastatic breast cancer to live longer and better lives. However, treatment needs to be highly individualized and no single treatment plan is right for everyone.

Program Goal
The goal of this program is to provide participants with increased knowledge regarding the treatment of patients with metastatic breast cancer.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Identify first-line and subsequent line endocrine therapy options for patients with hormone receptor positive cancer
  • Identify treatment approaches for trastuzumab-exposed patients
  • Describe single-agent and combination therapies, including biologic agents, being evaluated in clinical trials
  • Counsel patients about some of the risks and benefits of therapeutic options
  • Describe the appropriate use of supportive care options

Target Audience
Physicians, nurses, and other clinical professionals who manage patients with cancer.
