Michelle L. May, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., is a recognized leader in the area of weight management, with expertise in the cognitive-behavioral aspects of weight management. She is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the Board of Medical Examiners for the State of Arizona, and the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. May received her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed graduate training at the Good Samaritan Family Practice Residency Program in Phoenix.
An active speaker and author on weight management, Dr. May is the author of
Am I Hungry? What to Do When Diets Don't Work, written in collaboration with a registered dietitian and a psychologist and published by Nourish Publishing (2005), and co-author of
"H" Is for Healthy — Weight Management for Kids published by SWAK Pak Children's Publishing (2005). She also developed and facilitates Am I Hungry? Weight Management Workshops (
www.amihungry.com).
Dr. May served on the Arizona Department of Health Services Obesity Prevention Program Healthcare Workgroup. She is a Nutrition Spokesperson for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and has served on the AAFP Congress of Delegates for 8 years. She was also Chairperson of the AAFP Subcommittee on Women. In 1998, Dr. May was elected President of the Arizona Academy of Family Physicians. She remains a recognized leader in the area of weight management for many professional and community organizations.
